Missing Gill and Max

Gill and Max returned to the UK last week and the house seems very empty.

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed their company very much, we all ate too much drank too much and talked too much but it was fun.

We managed to see more of Trinidad and one of our favourite visits was to the Asa Wright Centre which is natural setting in the rain forest for hiking and bird watching. We went for the day and took the easy hiking trail ( which was not that easy. We saw so many brightly coloured birds which we wouldn't normally see in the city.

I am having trouble downloading some pictures will show you some of the birds when I sort it out.

We also went on the Caroni Swamp trip which is a natural swamp area where the National bird of Trinidad the Red Ibis comes home to roost at the end of the day in the thousands, quite the sight to see.

We returned to Tobago at the end of the three weeks and spent a couple of days there before saying goodbye at Tobago airport.

Invaders Pan Yard

Went for a beer and to listen to one of the many pan bands practising for Carnival 2011.

The Invaders are sponsered by Caribbean Airlines and practise most nights leading up to carnival which is in March this year. It is something else walking along the street and hearing a steel pan band and everyone enjoying the music.

We are hopefully going to visit several yards before carnival.

Happy Valentines Day

Look at the fresh orchids I received for Valentines Day.............and they wern't from Doug.

Tobago was wonderful

We had a wonderful time in Tobago, we visited most of the island which is very lush and green with lovely natural bays.


Took a trip on a glass bottom boat across the Buccoo Reef which is amazing the boys snorkelled over the reef.

There is a natural area in the ocean that is on a sand bar and is only about three feet deep it is known as the nylon pool, we spent a long time playing in the water, I never thought I would be that far out in the Caribbean sea and able to stand up. I am not a swimmer but would do it again tomorrow, it was an amazing experience.




We spent a day at Pigeon Point a very beautiful beach, chatted with the local people who were all so nice.

We were sorry to leave but had to catch the ferry back to Trinidad to have more fun with Gill and Max. However we are planning to go back to the Island for the last couple of days of Gill and Max's visit as they will fly back to the UK from Tobago.

I have a lot of catching up to do on the blog as we have been busy having new adventures.

We are going to Tobago

Tomorrow morning we leave for a trip to Tobago. Our very good friends Gill and Max from England are flying to Tobago on Thursday, we are taking the ferry leaving home at 4 am to catch the 6.30 am ferry.

We have rented a villa and are going to explore some of the beautiful beaches on the island. We are then returning on the ferry with Gill and Max who are staying with us in Trinidad until 24th February.

Gill and I have been friends for so long even before we were both married and although we don't see each other as often as we like, we can pick up as though it was just last week we saw each other. I know we are going to have a wonderful time. Hopefully I will have lots of pictures to post when we return.

I looked out of the kitchen window this morning and saw this rainbow in a perfect arch over the house opposite.



All of you in Canada stay warm I heard you had a huge snowstorm blow it's way through last night. Stefanie is very pleased as the school board closed all schools the first time in a couple of years. It must have been a bad storm.

Back in Trinidad

We arrived back safe and sound to the warmth of Trinidad. We are certainly not missing the snow that has finally arrived in Burlington.

I have been busy trying to get the house sorted out and unpacking boxes, it is crtainly much better than living in the apartment we were in before I left for Canada. It is so nice to hear the birds singing and be able to walk out into the garden. Of course having the pool is an added bonus on these very hot days.

I did some exploring this morning checking out the mango tree which is covered in flower so hopefully we will have a good crop of mangoes soon. Everything appears to be starting to bud,it will be interesting to see what exactly we have growing here.

hidden in these huge leaves are the most delicate white flowers



I now have vases of them all over the house.........I am assuming they are not poisonous, they are very pretty.

I have been trying to do some sewing as I had some new patterns for Christmas, will let you see what I have made very soon.

Christmas in Canada

Our time with Stefanie & Tim has flown by and we will be flying back to Trinidad on 4th January. As I am typing this it is snowing and I have to admit I will not be sorry to get back to the warmth. Toady it is 30 degrees in Trinidad.

Thought you would like to see some pictures of busters Christmas,opening presents, making sure the discarded wrapping paper was adequately shredded and finally it all got too much for a very excited boy with a tummy full of turkey.
